The Apparel Export Promotion Council (AEPC) hosted the Excellence Honours 2023–24–25 on 20 December 2025 at Hotel ITC Maurya, New Delhi, celebrating outstanding achievements in India’s apparel export sector. The event was graced by Shri C. P. Radhakrishnan, Hon’ble Vice President of India, as the Chief Guest, who addressed industry leaders and presented awards to top-performing exporters.
Twenty-seven apparel exporting companies were recognised for their exemplary export performance during 2023–24–25, along with two individuals who have made notable contributions to the growth and development of the sector. Shri Harish Ahuja of Shahi Exports Private Limited received the gold trophy for Global Export Champion for 2023–24–25.
Instituted by AEPC, the Excellence Honours recognise exporters who have played a pivotal role in strengthening India’s apparel export ecosystem through quality, innovation, sustainability and market diversification.
Strengthening India’s Position in Global Apparel Trade
Addressing the gathering, the Hon’ble Vice President emphasised the strategic importance of the textile and apparel sector to India’s economy. He noted that textiles remain the country’s second-largest employer and deliver a strong return on investment, making the sector vital for inclusive economic growth.
Highlighting the competitive challenges faced by Indian exporters, he stressed the need for India to enter into more Free Trade Agreements. According to him, FTAs are essential to create a level playing field for Indian apparel exporters, particularly in comparison with countries such as Bangladesh that already enjoy preferential access in several global markets.
The Hon’ble Vice President also underlined the importance of factory modernisation to enhance productivity and global competitiveness. He acknowledged that Indian exporters have shown resilience and adaptability despite global uncertainties, and encouraged them to continue adopting advanced technologies and efficient manufacturing practices.
Government Support and Industry Collaboration
Commending the government’s initiatives, the Hon’ble Vice President pointed to schemes such as the Production Linked Incentive programme and the PM MITRA Parks Scheme as key enablers of capacity expansion and infrastructure modernisation. He also highlighted the role of skill development initiatives under SAMARTH, simplified labour codes and ongoing FTA negotiations in strengthening the apparel ecosystem.
He reiterated that while the government has set ambitious targets, including achieving a textile market size of USD 350 billion with USD 100 billion in textile exports by 2030, these goals can only be realised through strong industry participation, innovation and determination. Apparel exports alone are targeted to reach USD 40 billion by 2030.
Acknowledging AEPC’s role, the Hon’ble Vice President described the council as a long-standing bridge between the government and the industry. He noted its contributions in policy advocacy, export promotion, skill development and positioning Indian apparel on the global stage.
Celebrating Export Growth Amid Global Challenges

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Sudhir Sekhri, Chairman, AEPC, said the Excellence Honours go beyond celebrating export numbers and recognise the spirit of enterprise, resilience and innovation that defines India’s apparel industry. He expressed confidence that such recognition would inspire exporters to navigate global challenges with renewed confidence and collective strength.
Despite global headwinds, Indian apparel exports recorded a commendable growth of 10 percent in 2024–25. Chairman AEPC highlighted that in November 2025 alone, apparel exports grew by 11.3 percent compared to November 2024 and by 22.1 percent over November 2023. Cumulative ready-made garment exports during April to November 2025–26 stood at USD 10.08 billion, reflecting sustained momentum in a challenging global environment.
He attributed this progress to consistent policy support from the government, including initiatives such as PM MITRA Parks, GST reforms, labour law reforms, the Production Linked Incentive Scheme, the Export Promotion Mission and the Credit Guarantee Scheme for Exporters. These measures, he noted, have laid a strong foundation for long-term growth and competitiveness.
At the same time, Chairman AEPC acknowledged ongoing challenges, including geopolitical tensions, global supply chain disruptions and tariff-related issues in key markets. He emphasised that the Indian apparel industry has repeatedly demonstrated its ability to adapt, innovate and move forward despite such pressures.
Vision for the Future of Indian Apparel Exports
Dr A. Sakthivel, Vice Chairman, AEPC, thanked the Hon’ble Vice President for his presence and encouragement, stating that it strengthened the industry’s resolve to achieve the USD 40 billion apparel export target by 2030. Congratulating the award winners, he urged them to continue their pursuit of excellence and to mentor the next generation of apparel exporters.
Shri Mithileshwar Thakur, Secretary General, AEPC, highlighted the industry’s increasing focus on technology adoption, design capabilities and modern manufacturing practices. He noted that the transition towards sustainability, including greener supply chains and ethical sourcing, is reinforcing a responsible and globally respected Brand India.
The AEPC Excellence Honours 2023–24–25 brought together exporters, policymakers and stakeholders at a crucial moment for the industry, reaffirming India’s ambition to strengthen its leadership position in the global apparel value chain.
