Tiruppur’s ESG Leadership Shines as PM Modi Visits Bharat Tex 2025

A Global Spotlight on India’s Sustainability-Driven Textile Industry

New Delhi, February 16, 2025: Bharat Tex 2025, one of India’s largest and most prestigious textile exhibitions, is currently underway at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, from February 14 to 17, 2025. The event has drawn global industry leaders, policymakers, and innovators, reinforcing India’s position as a pioneer in sustainable textile manufacturing.

A major highlight of the exhibition was the visit of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, who explored the advancements India has made in eco-friendly textile practices.

Tiruppur’s ESG Leadership Takes Center Stage

During his visit, Prime Minister Modi interacted with Padma Shri Dr. A. Sakthivel, Honorary Chairman of the Tiruppur Exporters’ Association (TEA). Dr. Sakthivel provided insights into how Tiruppur—widely regarded as the Knitwear Capital of India—has become a frontrunner in sustainable manufacturing.

He highlighted the region’s pioneering adoption of Environment, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles, which have positioned Tiruppur as one of India’s first ESG-compliant textile clusters.

Sustainability in Action: Tiruppur’s Key Achievements

Prime Minister Modi expressed his appreciation for the industry’s dedication to sustainability, particularly in the areas of:

  • Water Conservation – Large-scale implementation of Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) systems ensures water recycling and minimal wastage.
  • Renewable Energy – Significant investments in wind and solar power are reducing carbon footprints and promoting energy efficiency.
  • Waste Reduction – Circular economy practices, including textile waste recycling, are driving the industry towards zero-waste goals.

A Testament to India’s Green Future

Tiruppur’s achievements reflect India’s broader commitment to sustainable and responsible manufacturing. With government support and industry-driven initiatives, Bharat Tex 2025 has solidified India’s status as a leader in the global textile sector, championing environmental responsibility.
