
A delegation representing textile associations from across Tamil Nadu recently met Thiru M.K. Stalin, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, to express its collective appreciation for the State Government’s sustained support to the textile and apparel sector over the past five years.
During the interaction, the delegation acknowledged the various schemes and initiatives implemented by the Government of Tamil Nadu to strengthen the textile ecosystem, improve industrial infrastructure and support employment generation. Industry representatives noted that these measures have played a crucial role in reinforcing Tamil Nadu’s position as one of India’s leading textile and knitwear hubs.
The recently announced Textile Policy, unveiled at the International Textile Summit, received special mention during the meeting. The delegation described the policy as one of the most progressive and comprehensive textile policies in the country, addressing key areas such as investments, technology upgradation, skill development, sustainability and ease of doing business. Industry leaders highlighted that the policy reflects a deep understanding of the sector’s evolving needs and long-term growth potential.

The delegation also conveyed its gratitude to the Hon’ble Chief Minister for his visionary leadership and continued engagement with the textile industry. Members expressed confidence that Tamil Nadu’s proactive policy framework and industry-friendly approach will attract fresh investments, promote innovation and create significant employment opportunities, particularly in labour-intensive segments of the textile value chain.
Representing the Tiruppur Exporters’ Association (TEA), Mr Kumar Duraiswamy, Joint Secretary, TEA, attended the meeting and participated in discussions on behalf of the knitwear export community. He reaffirmed the industry’s commitment to working closely with the State Government to further strengthen Tamil Nadu’s textile and apparel leadership, both domestically and globally.
The meeting underscored the importance of continued collaboration between the government and industry stakeholders to ensure sustainable growth, global competitiveness and long-term resilience of Tamil Nadu’s textile sector.
