The Department of Apparel Fashion Design at NIFT-TEA College of Knitwear Fashion, Tiruppur, recently hosted its much-anticipated annual design exhibition, Galare De Design, from October 30 to November 2. The event transformed the college campus into a vibrant gallery of imagination, celebrating the creativity and craftsmanship of its budding designers.
This year’s edition of Galare De Design offered a refreshing glimpse into the evolving landscape of design thinking. Every student presented twelve distinct design types built around a single concept board and story, creating a cohesive narrative that reflected both creative flair and technical understanding. The showcased categories ranged from naturalistic and historic to futuristic and bio-inspired themes, revealing the students’ depth of research and aesthetic sensibilities. Other design explorations included conventional, geometric, stylistic, abstract, couture, minimalistic, and realistic approaches, each demonstrating a distinct interpretation of form, texture, and colour.
A Celebration of Creativity and Vision
The exhibition was inaugurated in the presence of distinguished guests from the textile and apparel industry. Mr Rahul Kumar Todi, Executive Director of Lux Industries Limited, Tiruppur, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, while Mr G. Sivapermal David, Managing Director of Walrus Seer Textile Mills, Tiruppur, attended as the Guest of Honour. The inaugural session was further enriched by the presence of Mr Jeganathan, Advisor at Walrus, who also addressed the gathering.

Their words resonated deeply with the aspiring designers, encouraging them to pursue creativity with confidence and purpose.
Mr Boopathy Vijay, Program Coordinator, formally welcomed the gathering and introduced the event, highlighting its significance as a platform that bridges academic learning with industry application. Dr V. R. Sampath, Dean of NIFT-TEA College, delivered the Vote of Thanks, expressing gratitude to the esteemed guests, faculty members, and students who contributed to the event’s success.
Linking Learning with Industry Reality

More than just a display of student projects, Galare De Design 2024 served as a vital experiential learning opportunity. The carefully curated exhibition reflected the institution’s commitment to nurturing creative professionals who are both artistically visionary and market-savvy. The showcased works demonstrated how classroom concepts in colour theory, pattern making, textile application, and storytelling translate into tangible design outcomes.
By engaging directly with industry leaders and receiving live feedback, students were able to gain practical insights into how creativity aligns with the demands of contemporary fashion markets. The event also allowed visitors, including fellow students, faculty, and industry members, to witness the diversity and talent emerging from the Tiruppur-based design community.
Inspiring the Next Generation of Designers
Over the years, Galare De Design has evolved into one of NIFT-TEA’s signature events, known for its dynamic blend of art, innovation, and industry engagement. This year’s edition once again reaffirmed the institution’s role as a cradle of creative talent in the Indian knitwear and apparel sector.
The energy, originality, and conceptual depth displayed by the students were widely appreciated by all attendees. The event concluded on an inspiring note, with the young designers receiving recognition and encouragement to continue exploring design beyond boundaries.
