AEPC Chairman Dr. A. Sakthivel Welcomes Growth Signals in Economic Survey 2025-26

29 January 2026 | New Delhi:

Reacting to the Economic Survey 2025–26 presented by Union Finance Minister Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman, Dr A. Sakthivel, Chairman of AEPC, said the Survey reflects the Government of India’s progressive and growth-oriented vision for building a Viksit Bharat.

Dr Sakthivel noted that the Economic Survey’s projection of India’s GDP growth at 6.8–7.2% in FY27 underlines the inherent resilience of the Indian economy, even as global markets continue to face uncertainty and geopolitical headwinds. According to him, the projections send a reassuring signal to both domestic industry and international stakeholders about India’s macroeconomic stability.

He further observed that the Survey adopts a forward-looking approach, candidly recognising emerging challenges while outlining a credible roadmap focused on reforms, resilience, and sustained growth. “The emphasis on policy stability, competitiveness, and structural reforms sends a strong message of confidence to industry and global investors alike,” Dr Sakthivel said.

Highlighting the relevance of the Survey for the apparel and textile sector, the AEPC Chairman stated that continuity in policy direction and progressive reforms are critical for fostering long-term investments, strengthening supply chains, and enhancing India’s global competitiveness as a sourcing destination. He added that predictable and stable policies play a decisive role in enabling exporters to plan capacity expansion, upgrade technology, and move up the value chain.

Dr Sakthivel also remarked that the Survey reinforces two key pillars essential for export-led growth: stability and trust. “These are fundamental for accelerating India’s journey toward inclusive and sustainable economic growth. For the apparel and textile sector, the coming decade presents a significant opportunity. With the right policy environment, this can truly be India’s moment in global apparel and textile exports,” he said.
